How and Where to Look for Help to Pay Your Rent
Most often, the bill that becomes most critical for people is the rent. 
It can be overwhelming when the landlord is threatening eviction.
If you anticipate that paying rent is going to be a problem, don’t wait until your landlord is ready to evict you!
Talk with your landlord. Let them know that you are seeking assistance. Tell them that getting this bill paid as quickly as possible is important to you as well as to them.
This will let them know that you are acting in good faith and you are not ignoring the problem
Ask them is they have any assistance programs. If they do, use them.
You may be able to make payment arrangements for the current bill, and/or get discounts on future bills.
If you have small children or someone ill or elderly in the house, let them know. This may give you priority consideration.
Contact your local United Way.
In many places you can get them by dialing 2-1-1.
Many local charities and organizations partner with United Way to provide needed services. They can give you resources in your area that help with rent/mortgage payments.
Contact a local church.
Many churches have emergency funds to help members. Call them.
If you are not a member, or if they are unable to help, ask if they know of other places in your area that might be able to help you.
Many Catholic Churches try to help anyone in their local community. Ask if they can help you.
If they cannot help you, ask them for the number of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in your area and the number for the LOCAL Catholic Charities Agency. (You do not need to be Catholic to get help from these organizations.)
There are other places that offer help. These will probably be the quickest for you.

I am a single mother of an 8 year old boy and have always worked but after 5 years at a salon and being disrespected by my boss I left and found a new job the next day. I am a father of 2 children, ages 16 and 14, and trying to make it through a tough situation. I was out of work for a year and started a program that assisted me in getting an LVN degree. My wife lost her job of 23 years a week ago ( two weeks after my LVN grad date). We have rent that was due today and we are short by $750. I am a single mother of three. I have a 121/2 yr old daughter that has adhd,ptsd,and a mood disorder. I have a 81/2 yr old son that has adhd,ptsd,severe developmental and speech delays and iam in the process of getting him evaluated for autism. His iq is very below average and i was told the other day that he is borderline retarded. I also have a 2yr old son that has a genetic disorder called biotin deficancy and he has to take a pill everyday for the rest of his life. I am in the process of being evicted. I suffer from a substance abuse problem and i was arrested recently do to the fact that i relapsed and was caught buying drugs. I have never been aressted before in my life and ever since i was arrested my life has been falling apart and im scared as hell i can not loose my home because if i do then i loose my kids and my kids are my life. I have noplace to go if i loose my home. I am in desperate need of some help and advice.
